So, what's up with Liam?

A noticable amount is up with me. Right now, I'm at work.

At work? On this beautiful Saturday? I know you were doing a lot at work, but that's ridiculous.

Not so much. There's a lovely Farmer's market right outside the front door, where I just picked up some yummy strawberries. They also had some alpaca wool (on the order of $32, so I turned it down), fresh mozzerella (don't have a cooler to transport it in), and lots of jams and jellies and preserves. (Hey, [livejournal.com profile] uilos, will you have homemade preserves for Origins bread, or should I stock up?)

Well, that sounds nice. Does this mean you're just there for the market, and not actually working?

Not as such, no. I have lots of self-generated, internal projects at work which will help us all work better. I'm also working on something Evil, and if I come up with a working prototype I'll show it off here. But I'm not here today to work, I just drove down here and happened to find the Farmer's market. There was even a lady with a lovely fiddle that started playing a Schottisse, but I was the only person around who knew what that meant, let alone how to dance it. So I made a spectacle of myself.

Sounds neat. Wait, you drove? Whose car are you borrowing?

Mine, actually.

wtf?

Here's a picture. (Not actual car. Mine is black.)

WTF?!

Yeah, I finally bought a car that actually runs (as opposed to my first three, which didn't). It's brand-spanking new, still on its first tank of gas. It's a Toyota Matrix, with a 2-prong AC outlet (neat!), the best-designed air vents I've ever seen, and lots of internal kyootness. His name is Cayley (because, you know, Matrix).

Well, damn.

Yeah, I'm still getting used to the idea of car-ownership. But this is what I'll be driving to and from Origins, to work once a week, and to various social events. This means more socializing for me, both because I can get places, and because I can leave at a reasonable hour, rather than being hemmed in by night people. This also means more likelihood at visiting North Carolina.

But, now, I'm off again, as I drove to work to try and find my way here, and I only got lost three times for a total of 35 minutes. Now, I need to see if I can navigate the second leg, which is from work to bridge. There was no way I was going to attempt this drive for the first time during morning rush, and I'm glad I didn't. I'm off!

Weird.

I seem to have discovered the location of where all my left socks went. No, really.

I have a black leather briefcase that I only brought to work when I needed to look more formal, such as for interviews, or in a suit-wearing workplace. When I don't need it, it's supposed to live in the closet. But, for the past seven months, it's been sitting, closed and locked (but not with combination on) underneath my desk. It was out of the way, so I tolerated it being there.

While cleaning today, I moved the briefcase back to its rightful place. En route, I opened it up to make sure it was empty. Do you know what I found inside?

Socks.

In this closed briefcase, there are six socks, all of which are in good condition, and match a missing sock in my sock drawer. None of them match each other.

I knew they were capable of pushing open the dryer door to escape, but I didn't know they knew how to work a briefcase push-clasp. But, now I know where to check next time one goes missing.
