It's been a month since I posted this, and the party will be in two months! There are still 10 of 20 slots available as of today. I know some of you have probably not RSVP'ed yet because you're waiting for your schedule to solidify. Well, add some more gelatin to it!

On August 6th, many things happened in history.

  • 1806: the Holy Roman Empire ended.
  • 1890: William Kemmler became the first person executed in the electric chair.
  • 1945: the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.
  • 1991: Tim Berners-Lee first put forth his ideas for the World Wide Web.
  • 1996: NASA annouced that Martian meteor ALH84001 contained evidence of primitive life.
  • 2001: The President received a memo entitled "bin Ladin Determined to Strike in U.S.".

We're going to have a party that celebrates none of these things!

[livejournal.com profile] heptadecagram & [livejournal.com profile] leiacat's Puzzle Party

Saturday, August 6th, 2005
1:00PM - 7:30PM
[livejournal.com profile] leiacat's house, Columbia, MD

On the first Saturday in August, [livejournal.com profile] heptadecagram and [livejournal.com profile] leiacat will be hosting a party where you get together and solve puzzles that we made up. Winners get prizes, everyone has fun. There will be snacks provided throughout the day, and a group takeaway order placed around 6:00PM. When the puzzling is over and scores are announced, the party will become a general hanging out which all participants are encouraged to stick around for (with non-participants welcome to come, also).

There is room for 20 participants. Since space is limited, and bailing out would be unfair to the other players on your team, participation will be by RSVP only. There will be a waiting list for those that caught this announcement too late.

Feel free to pass on this invitation and our contact information to anyone you know who might be interested in participating.

Full web page on the subject can be found here. Feel free to RSVP in comments, though e-mail will be much less likely to get lost in the shuffle. Directions given upon RSVP.

Argh and Argh. I'd like to be able to say that I'll be there, but that's right before my final exam for my Statistics class. The thing is that if I feel ready for the final, then I'd be free and excited to come, but if I don't then I'd need to stay home and study. If there are still slots available once I've started my class (early July) and I've gotten a feeling for it, I'd like to reply then. Is that OK?

I'd love to go, but I have to be in Massachusetts. Make sure you do it again some time!
